Book Review: Forbidden Temptation by R.L. Kenderson (Forbidden, Book #3) Kindle book

51FRvg6qQOL._SY346_To say they had a complicated past would be an understatement.

Human, Mackenzie (Kenzie) Swanson, and cat shapeshifter, Sawyer Lennar, were kidnapped by mistake and were able to escape their kidnappers and hide out for a while.  Sawyer hated humans so when he got amnesia from a blow to the head and his personality changed for the better, Kenzie was grateful for small favors.  In the past, he was downright cruel to her, but now he was sweet and accommodating.  How long would this last, why did he hate humans so much and why did she let him mark her?

Cat shapeshifter and female sentinel, Phoenix Kaplan, was drawn to vampire and Guardian, Dante Leonidas, after he saved her from a dire situation.  He had once fed from her which had embarrassingly resulted in her first ever orgasm.  She was a she-cat and seemed to not like sex, but he would die before letting her get hurt.  Why does a vampire make her feel so safe?

Vampire and Guardian, Lexine Harlow, didn’t understand why Dante liked a shifter who dressed like a homeless man and had a surly attitude.  She had been in love with him for five years.  She disliked the cat-shifter, and she deserved to be with Dante.  Will her new friends help her make her wish come true?

This is story three from Kenderson’s Forbidden series and even though I haven’t read the first two stories in the series, this one stands on its own.  The humans, cat-shifters and vampires are well-developed, interesting and sexy characters. It was an all night read for me which is a great compliment to this book.  A definite must read, and I plan to read the other stories in the series!

Thank you to Ms. Kenderson and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review this book.

Book review: Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband by Melissa Mayhue (9781416532866)

1416532862.01._SX140_SY224_SCLZZZZZZZ_This is the first book in the The Daughters of the Glen series which takes us from 21st century Colorado to 13th century Scotland.  Caitlyn Coryell has discovered her selfish, power-hungry fiance with another woman in his office and realizes that she didn’t really love the man in the first place.  Conner MacKiernan is desperate to save his sister Mairi from being forced to marry the horrible MacPherson and relies on his Fae ancestry to find a woman for him to marry (something he vowed he would never do) in order for him to have the power to rescue his sister.  Little do Caitlyn and Conner know that the Fae power will alter their lives forever.

This is my first Melissa Mayhue book and I’m looking forward to reading more in the series.  I always enjoy time travel romances and this was no exception.  The characters were fun and the plot line was unique with the Fae element added to it.  I would like to read more about Conner’s Aunt Rosalyn and his sister Mairi and hope to see them in Mayhue’s future books in the series.

Book review: Truly, Madly by Heather Webber (9780312946135)

Lucy is a free spirit and doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life.  Her father changes that by making a public spectacle of himself and she has to take over the matchmaking business which she feels is not going to go well.  You see, Lucy’s family are psychics and their matchmaking business is based on clients’ auras.  Unfortunately, Lucy doesn’t read auras and can only find lost things such as rings and such.  Little does she know that her gift will get her in a lot of trouble and in Sean’s arms.  He’s a former firefighter and now filling in as a PI who happens to be in the same building as Lucy’s family business.  Of course the sparks fly between the two and the adventure begins.

And let’s not forget the wonderful supporting characters such as Lucy’s grandmother, Dovie, Lucy’s friends, Em and Marisol, and the family valet, driver, and friend., Raphael.

Ms. Webber has given us a wonderful start to an exciting series.  I look forward to finding out about Em and Detective Holliday and Raphael and Maggie AND, of course, Sean and Lucy.
